Under Tile Heating Site Instructions
Under Tile Installation Instruction.pdf (1,5Mb)

In order to comply with the The Heating Company Warranty, the following Site Instructions must be adhered to:

Customer and Builder

  • All floors must be suitable for tile laying. They must be firm, level, clean and free from cracks, holes or sharp protrusions.
  • Wooden floors must be covered with Hardy's Tile & Slate underlay, in accordance with the manufacturers fixing instructions.
  • Precautions should be taken to prevent people from walking or working on the floor once the elements have been installed (until tiles have been laid).
Precautions must be taken to protect the elements against damage if there is going to be a delay in tile laying.
  • Where elements are being laid on top of wooden floors a Floor Sensing Type Thermostat is required to conform to Carters Kopine and Fletchers Permafloor warranty. If using a different type of timber flooring please contact the supplier regarding suitability for the use of heating.
  • No allowance has been made to heat shower cavities or under fixed furniture etc.
Electrician
  • Wiring must be in place before heating can be installed. Allowance must be made for extra heat load as stated on the customer's quotation. Please refer to wiring instructions supplied with customer quotation.
  • Supply and install one flush box Vertically for each thermostat.
  • Supply and install a draw wire from the flush box down to the floor level as per wiring diagram.
  • Supply and install sub circuit wiring to each thermostat - Should be RCD circuit breaker protected.
Tiler
  • It is the Tiler's responsibility to check the floor for suitability for tiling and to do any floor preparation, waterproofing etc required before the heating is installed.
  • A good quality primer must be applied over the The Heating Company screed covering the heated floor before tiling.
  • Only flexible adhesives should be used. We recommend a 10mm minimum, notched trowel to be used to spread adhesive. Check trowel - any sharp edges should be removed.
  • Do not position tile cutting or other machinery on the heated floor. Care must be taken not to drop anything.
  • Only clean, soft-soled shoes should be worn. Keep others off the floor until tiling is finished.
Note: If any damage occurs while tiling. STOP IMMEDIATELY and contact the The Heating Company Dealer.
General: To ensure a prompt service please allow three weeks from the time of order to installation, however we are often able to supply in shorter lead times, if required.
