The Heating Company Undercarpet
Heating consists of low temperature electric radiant heating
mats laid between the carpet and underlay. The results
gained are an extremely luxurious, safe, and efficient
central heating system.
The Heating mats are encapsulated in a reinforced high
temperature foil for added protection and heat transfer.
The Heating Company heating mats are available in a large
range of New Zealand factory made assembled sizes and
shapes.
The Hotwire Under Carpet Heating system utilises a synthetic
slip cloth placed over our heated mats, which is essential
in preventing wear on the topside of the heated mats,
from the abrasive underside of the carpet, and provides
longevity to the heating system. The slip cloth also assists
heat transfusion and heat build up from flat heavy objects
sitting on the carpet, once laid.
All The Heating Company heating mats are permanently hardwired.
The Heating Company Undercarpet Heating is suitable for
use between most carpets and underlay sold in New Zealand.
There are however, some carpet types such as foamed back,
or rubber backed carpets that may not be suitable for
undercarpet heating.
Underlay should be of good quality. A woolen underlay
has proven to give the most out of yor heating, however
rubber, and good quality foam underlay are suitable.

The Heating Company Heating
mats are individually tested at point of manufacture and
installation to ensure compliance to EEC, NZ/Aust standards.
All undercarpet mats must be connected to a normal power
circuit via an RCD protection unit (Residual Current Device).

Operating Costs
The Heating Company heating mats can be installed
in individual areas, and using an air sensing thermostat
the heating system turns off when reaching the desired
temperature. This automated control for each area, reduces
power used by heating only were the heating is required.
On average the system may only operate 50% of the designated
time set. The Heating Company Dealers
can provide indicative running costs during quoting based
on the design wattage allowed for verses the local authorities
power costs.
Running costs are based on watts used per hour. These
costs vary according to your local power authority charges.
"Average Example" based on 10 cents per Kilowatt
Hour cycling on and off operating 50% of the designated
time frame -
Average bedroom @ 12 M2 = 900 watts = 9 cents per hour.
Average living room @ 30 M2 = 2250 watts = 12.5 cents
per hour. |
Thermostat Control
Thermostatic control is essential to take advantage of
the "on demand" heating and the economical running costs.
The Heating Company use the latest technology from Hotwire
Building Technologies- (Landis & Staefa Thermostats)
1. Air Sensing: Unless stated otherwise the installation
includes air sensing thermostat. Recommended for areas
that are not used on a regular basis.
2. Programmable Digital Timer: These thermostats are highly
recommended for areas used on a daily basis.
Other types of control such as remote activation, and
distribution board control are available upon request.
